lived thru TYPHOON OMAR on the island of GUAM ... 1992

On August 28, it made landfall on Guam with winds of 195 km/h (120 mph).
The typhoon reached its peak intensity the next day, with estimated 1-minute
winds of 240 km/h (150 mph), making it a "super typhoon" according to the
Joint Typhoon Warning Center

I was Operations Officer for helicopter combat support squadron HC-5
and I had to launch Rescue missions throughout the Marianas islands using
my "hand held" radio from my survival vest 'cause the island had been destroyed
and there was no power no water for about 2 weeks ...

then GUAM had SUPER TYPHOON PAKA in 1997 winds got to 185 MPH !!!

Super Typhoon Paka near peak intensity
Highest winds 10-minute sustained: 185 km/h (115 mph)
1-minute sustained: 295 km/h (185 mph)
