Stat. Sig. vs. Effect Size vs. Sample Size

Long time lurker, 2nd-time poster (hanging by a thread). Regarding the biomarker results, I agree with comments that only a subset of the study populaation has the identified biomarker, and that the increased OS was observed only in those subset members that were treated with Bavi (when compared to subset members in the control group). Some worry that the subset might be really small. However, a reminder . . . . . To achieve a certain level of stat sig (.05, .01, whatever), a smaller subset would need a larger effect size (increase in OS). If it's a big subset, then the observed increase in OS sould be modest. But if it's a smaller subset, we could be looking at a spectacular increase in OS.

Just talking stats, not speculating about what will actually be announced on Monday. GLTA
