What do you mean a patent they don't hold???-glad_ya_asked
Once upon a time or 04-Dec-14 to be exact, the patent inventor Allen E Lopez (the Pres of DDCC) assigned the patent to DDCC.
Then on 10-Aug-16, DDCC assigned the patent back to Lopez. Neat timing isn't it? DDCC gives up all rights of the Patent (including royalties) back to Lopez. Just 2 weeks before the USPO approved the patent.
Correct! One needs only to doo some of that wonderful "DD" everyone talks about:
From there one can find the Patent assignment form, in which CEO Jerry assigns the Patent on behalf of DDCC back to Lopez. Lopez needed only to ask for the patent back, and CEO Jerry granted his request. No financial considerations given.
This leaves DDCC SHs holding the bag. DDCC can't license the patent, or be the beneficiary of any royalties to the patent. Instead, it's Lopez who can license, and would receive any royalty for any license.
