In regards to pipe flexibility. I am a railroad fanatic. When railroads lay rail nowdays it comes in long sections (I think 1,000 ft or more) and at that length the rail bends real easily. It used to be that rail was laid in small sections (e.g. 50 or so ft by gangs of men with pick and shovel). Now with large machines they take a long rail and bend it like spagetti(sp). You can well emagine if they can easily bend a rr track - pipe would be similar.
