There is no way to determine how much short interest was created today or if any of this was "short selling". It certainly wasn't retail shorting as the pps is too low to make it worthwhile.

I also doubt that the note holders were shorting against the box. Kodiak could have been unloading its 300,000 shares...who knows.

Looking at the short volume tells us that the most that could have been shorted was 317,000, but then short volume bears NO relationship to actual short interest creation...and in fact rarely is in the penny's.

However we do know that over 500K shares (more than any single day in the history of this stock) traded before before the PR release around 2 pm.

That might be of interest to a regulator...especially if the conversion push this lower.
