Warner Bros. is the first Hollywood studio to sponsor Twitter’s photo stickers, part of its digital campaign for “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them,” the “Harry Potter” spinoff film set to bow this fall.
In June, Twitter launched stickers, which lets users add emoji, props and other accessories to photos (a la Snapchat) that they share on the social service. Earlier this month it rolled out sponsored stickers, with Pepsi as the launch marketing partner.
With the “Fantastic Beasts” promo, Twitter users in the U.S., the U.K., France, Japan, Brazil and Spain will see four custom stickers in their libraries inspired by the movie’s main character, magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) — a scarf, wand, coat and suitcase, which can be added to a user’s photo.
The photos act as visual hashtag, meaning that fans who tap on a promoted Twitter sticker will be able to see photos from other users.
