Not the only option for success, just sounds like most likely to me. Believe a company like jnj would rather pay say a billion ( hoping but probably less at this point) than pay say 100 mil and share profits. They can really get all testing and approvals done within a couple years and if they see the potential and if they know it works the money is pocket change for them especially if they know they are going to make many times that over the years
