True enough CMI's main mission is to be a gold/silver miner but there are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Company besides Comstock Mining LLC. There is also Comstock Industrial LLC. and Comstock Real Estate Inc.
Bear in mind that since 2003 CMI has been pretty expert in the realty market. Mostly, with the guidance of J. V. Winfield.
Howard Hughes wasn't able to consolidate much more than Plum Mining when he made a run at it.
Now there is the contiguous property of Comstock Mining Inc as well as the Northern Comstock and the Sutro properties. There are various strategic acquisitions that aren't necessarily mining related, this most recent one is an example.
