many have tried, and failed and lost the race.

Technology in this area has come a long way and is still developing. What failed in the past may not fail in the future. With Spiber already having sales and collaborating with the North Face Japan and Kojima Industries as well as Bolt Threads collaborating with Patagonia and Unifi with both of them receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in financing and are already producing at commercial quantities in pilot facilities, I would say that they are well on their way to succeeding.

They don't have a wikipedia page talking about their published work

Spiber Inc. has a Wikipedia page, but i cant seem to find one for Bolt Threads. Wikipedia is user maintained, so anyone can go in and create a page for them if they wanted to. I would be willing to bet that the other companies will create one once they actually have a product, similar to Spiber.

No intellectual property, no patents

Many patents are pending, a few are actually issued. Last time I checked over a year ago, Spiber had 9 patents pending and Bolt Threads had one, though another just popped up publically for Bolt which had some interesting information in it. Entogenetics actually got their patent issued to them despite similarities in KBLB's process for making Monster Silk with KBLB's patents all still pending. Others have patents in the works or issued as well.

If they had any agreements, people are breaking contracts. I have a Patagonia jacket, Super thin and super light, perfect for not taking up any space when trekking in the mountains in BC, but a tear makes it garbage. I highly doubt Patagonia will sit and wait for Bolt, who already lost the race, and can't do anything unless you're taking about stealing intellectual property or patents.

I have contacted Patagonia myself via e-mail and, though they could not give me any specifics, they did verify that they did enter into an agreement with Bolt Threads and will be working with their Engineered Silk, confirming the Bolt Threads PR.
