Plus the follow article makes clear that not only will an organized threat towards law enforcement increase, but these gangs are known to have access to weapons of military strength that today's regular body armor are ineffective when multiple rounds from high powered rifles strike an officer.
Quite sad an officer inside the United States needs armor "of war."

The United States Department of Justice is issuing a warning to all law enforcement officials that gangs across the country are putting together efforts to attack authorities.
A gang leader in Chicago recently called for the murder of a federal agent. He believed targeting the agent would garner more attention than killing a local officer.
A separate gang organization, United Blood Nation, is promoting violence against police by promising to elevate the status of those who commit such a crime.
If the movement to target and assassinate cops expands past lone wolves, and mobilizes violent gang members nationwide, the effect would be overwhelming.
