so you think intel paid $17B for altera to make chips for prototyping? would be pathetic if it were true. that's an old fashioned idea; if you want to see what kinds of chips intel wants to build with altera acquisition, learn about zynq and stratix-10. of course these chips have arm cores in them, intel just wants to innovate and replace them with x86 cores.
