I changed my can lights a little over a year ago. It's possible that they've made some improvements since then. Still, the nature of an LED is to emit bright light. It's not like a filament that burns from a low glow all the way through full on.

Perhaps someone with more recent experience with these dimmable bulb will chime in.

BTW, you can get higher wattage dimmers, even at Home Depot. They are usually lower down in the display, or over where the ceiling fan controls are.
