sheesh lance, it's been too many years for me to remember how to translate lance speak.

OK, I read it 5 times and think I have it figured out. In this case, there was no traffic jam, people were driving as fast as possible and swerving around the guy half on the road.

A couple months ago I was driving on the ring road that goes around the city, the road was wet but the sun just came out. People were driving 50 miles an hour leaving not more than 3 or 4 feet between vehicles. I thought that these people are nuts, this is an accident waiting to happen. Sure enough, there was an accident up the road and traffic slowed abruptly. As I was driving prudently, I had plenty of breaking distance. The guy behind me had less, and the guy behind him had none, and the semi behind him..... pancake.

An hour later I went back the other way. They other side of the road was backed up for at least 6 miles.

If I had left 1 minute earlier from home, or 1 minute later, would the accident still have occurred? Would it have been worse?

My doctor committed suicide end of May, 32 years old. I saw her about a week before. Should I have told her a stupid joke? Invited her for drinks? If I had shaved that day, would it have changed the outcome? Did I say something innocuous that tipped the tide of depression?

Sorry I've gone off the rails. A very good read is "the five people you meet in heaven", it deals with the consequences of our actions, some which we never will know about
