Last time Positive ID and their Firfly was talked about here, I dug in too and received an email today with this video as well (subscribed to their emailservice). Not sure mission and purpose are in line and don´t know if technologies are compatible, but hey, what do I know. Seems Positive ID is focussed on mobile diagnostics and tracking epidemic outbreaks and diagnosing bacteria and virusdefaults....seems more WHO ánd bioterrorism-related.

Thought of Oxford Nanopore Technologies and their minION and other to released sequencingstuff too as a possible partner somehow, but also here it seems incompatible as nanopore technique measures electrical differences in a nanomambrane through wich single stranded dna molecules are pushed....and this tech seems not applicable especially with in silica embedded molecules.

Juicy detail: NASA is in bed with Oxford nanopore as well, as their portable minION sequencer is tested in space soon....and because every pound of weight brought along costs many many thousands of dollars, they chose the portable lightweight (less accurate) minION instead of Illumina´s (more accurate and much heavier) apparatus. So, Nasa knows adnas and ONT, DoD knows andas and PositiveID.....who knows!!!

Someone correct me if I´m wrong, and I don´t mind you being and adnas employer in disguise.
