AMD is showing shareprice strength in a very weak earnings season. With AMD not profitable and only a years worth of cash at hand I find Hectors rhetoric of how they will have 900+M of cash at the end of Q3 very striking. How will this happen? I do not see it. With AMD's debt rating falling how or who would give them more credit? I see the industry recovering soon, we are nearing the end of the downturn cycle for the semi's and the upswing should actually be here. Q3 and 4 should be stronger with back to school and the holidays how AMD does is surely not firm. But the question remains why is Hector talking up them having cash? I think they are severely downplaying AMD's position. With the recent upgrades from analysts quite possibly some bigger money is going to come in and raise AMD's
shareprice because of the comimg season, but AMD IMHO is still going to show a loss for at least 2 more quarters. So where does that put us? Going into Q1 or Q2 of next year scraping the
proverbial bottom. I really think there is a problem. Can Athlon 64 and Opteron raise some money? I wonder if it will be soon enough?
