09:39 AAPL China market: iPod not competitive with top local brands - Digitimes (66.65 +1.06)

Digitimes reports Apple Computer's iPod MP3 players, despite their dominance in the global market, ranked only fifth in terms of sales volume in China in June of this year for a market share of 4.29%, according to China-based CCID Consulting.

The top three brands in June were all China-based, while Samsung and Taiwan-based MSI (Micro-Star International) and BenQ ranked fourth, eighth and ninth, respectively, according to the research firm, which noted that local brands cooperated with retail channels better than foreign brands.
