Everybody thought Madoff was a great man at one point as well, just like Vanis. Look at how THAT turned out.
In the beginning Vanis was seemingly doing things right but then the lies started piling up, the missed dates, missed targets, unfulfilled promises, more debt, more spending, drastically less revenue etc.
The final straw for me was the dividend payments.

THAT was a HUGE slap in the face of shareholders. How the hell do you pay dividends to yourself and your "buddies" when the company is bleeding money and has NEVER made a profit?
How the hell do you make payouts like that when you're borrowing money and diluting 'till the cows come home?

As for "toxic debtors"? I've got the feeling that's how good 'ole Scott sees us investors.
