1) It is the year 2016 and any company/business/etc wishing to be taken serious needs an expansive social media footprint,
2) It is an inexpensive form of advertising/way to create buzz,
3) It is an excellent way to leverage their mega Producer-Actor celebrity equity partner because of his national/international following,
4) Social media is vital to reach the demographic that this product is/ will be intended for
5) It is an accepted form of societal communication, allowing them to reach a wide audience and parlay information to share holders
6) No company/business would consider doing business with them if they did not have a Social media presence
7) Social media has actually been shown, in some cases to be a more efficient and sales-driving force then older, more draconian forms of advertising such as your idea the other day for an "infomercial." And I think this is apropos because the group this will be marketed to does not watch "infomercials"....that is more for the "I've fallen and I can't get up" crowd.
So I am not sure why you would say instagram and twitter are used "just" to keep the PPS up? That demonstrates a rather old-fashioned and cognitively limited understanding of modern business, especially here in the penny world where these cheap forms communication are vital.
