I understand what the bid and ask is on a quote board, what I'm not quite sure of is this:

so let's say the current price of a stock is $10 and the bid is $9 and the ask is $10.50, so if I buy 100 shares would I be buying 100x$10.50? and let's say I turned around and sold it, would I sell it for 100x$9? please someone explain
