With that said, the source is a very disciplined analyst who is able to synthesize public information better than virtually any fundamental analyst I know.

I prefer to rely on technical patterns. Price is primary, IMHO. Except in extreme states it is the best signal we have from crowd wisdom. So my analysis always starts there. But if there are things that can be gleaned from other public information then it should be used.

What most investors lack is not information so much as the ability to synthesize a conclusion from it. This is especially so in high noise problem domains, such as financial markets. There are so many irrelevant signals and false conclusions that the rare commodity is good analysis.
