You are correct. Apparently the argument has now become something along the lines of "Jim Nelson can't be expected to tell shareholders the truth if the truth is anything but 100% positive news" (Fresno anyone?).

If the cell was real and actually did what they said it was going to do it would drastically disrupt the energy market, and with it the entire economy. Quite a claim for something they put less than a $1,000,000 investment into. If they were even half way to getting it done (they claimed to be much closer than that) diverting attention away from that to focus on acquiring regional solar installers would make no sense.

They really pulled out all the stops including giving 49% of the company at that time to SUNworks in order to buy them. Not to mention the dealings with those p-notes that have left overhang until now (although certain people did get rich off of those, but ordinary shareholders were not able to participate).

This is where people have to think...

If the company had a multi billion dollar idea, that according to the press releases at the time was right on the edge of commercialization, why would they give up half their equity just days after saying they were so close?

Well the obvious answer is that they didn't think they were really on the precipice of something huge. It's either that or they are some of the dumbest people alive, and they aren't THAT dumb. Many of the bulls have figured this out, which is why you can see the argument being pressed that it was in fact a clever move by über-genius Bain Capital alum and master of M&A Jim Nelson to save the company.

And of course, as you have pointed out quite correctly Drugmanrx, is that if this was true, then most of the claims they made related to the cell while they were buying SUNworks were grossly misleading at best. Some people invested in this are probably aware of this and feel like they are a part of the whole thing alongside Nelson, probably the same people that get their emails returned by Nelson while most shareholders are ignored.
