Cudos on your assessment - my take is -by $CHK $SDOC negotiate a restructure of debt-while continue the discussion on merger, if indeed this is not rumor...there by when and if merged - allowing a 1/2 - 2/3 reduction of expenses -seemingly this plan of action allows both companies to survive and emerge very health...
