What is everyone's thought on Arcam's Original patent filed in 1993 and granted in 1997, and it expiring? Is there any need to be worried, that others could enter the fray, like we are seeing with all the different Laser companies?

I know the patents have been improved and updated and I am sure they will continue to move it forward, but couldn't a company now use EBM and develop the technology just a bit differently and be a threat to Arcam?

Thoughts???

Also, currently EBM is 1 Electron Beam which can be deflected to have from 1-100 beam spots(melt pools).....Does anyone think it would be possible to have 2 Electron Beams in the same machine?
