Ocyan - Concerns are truly noted.

And I've thought about them too. By posting here and dumping on those that abuse, I'm responsible for shaping these boards as well. I keep that in mind.

I believe that we need more freedom, not less. But with freedom comes responsibility. You want to drive your car at 100 mph? Just don't hurt anybody in the process. Unfortunately most people will. Which is why we have speed limits for given conditions/locations. We have social standards that serve to guide not confine.

Pendulum to one side: The Yahoo MBs were almost totally lawless. I filled my Ignore list and tried to look around the crap, and still certain elements kept seeking ways to intrude and disrupt.

Pendulum to the other: A ruthlessly message/member-culled, moderated board. Bad or much worse in its' own myopic way.

Criticism. Arguement. Opposition. These are sweet-and-sour ingredients that move concepts and worldviews foreward. Hammering can make steel stronger. I'm all for people posting minority views. I read the unpopular posters regularly. Sometimes that one person is indeed right and the other 99 are wrong. But how many times have you actually seen that? And in general, if you are going to present desent, Dang... be polite about it. EVERYone is entitled to a view.

Sorry for the cliches, but... they are appropriate. Yeah, I'd hate to live in Cuba, or Singapore, or Iran, or North Korea too. Driving along that middle of the road requires constant, minute corrections of the steering wheel. If I had to choose, Walldiver is a good enough helmsman. I sure wouldn't want the job.

SIA myself for the O/T. off the soapbox
