Why MJ is not legal yet - my perspective.

Be patient, I'm not a great writer.

My generation, (born 1950), grew up during the 60's and 70's. We saw a president and his brother assassinated. MLK killed, riots from all sides, liberals jailed and a draftee fought war in Vietnam.

There was a lot of talk from our parents generation that all the problems with our society at the time was due to drugs like MJ, liberals, and black folks. They did not realize that all the problems were in reaction to the society in America at that time.

The war in Vietnam did not help because kids there sometimes suffered medical problems and even died from the drugs they got a hold of there. The MJ was sometimes laced with some much worse drugs or chemicals. Our whole compound was littered with small green plastic vials the locals would toss over the fence at night and our troops would toss over money. I never knew what was in the vials but what ever it was it was in widespread use.

As a 20 year old helicopter pilot, I did not use any drugs but I did drink myself to sleep almost every night and from what I heard the "33" beer made there had formaldehyde in it.

We used to have overdoses every week of some type of drug and when kids, drugs and explosives get to together there were 'accidents' like when three guys smoking pot decided to play hot potato with a live grenade in their hooch. It went off and killed all three. But it could have been beer just as easily.

The reaction from the officers in the military and the community leaders in the states was about the same - it was bad for you, it sapped one's drive, it impaired one's ability to make good choices, it led to the use of really addictive drugs, and it was illegal.

As a young officer I did kick out a lot of young kids for pot use. I regret those actions now as do a lot of folks my age.

We should have always treated MJ the same as alcohol.

I know some police officers feel the same along with lawyers and judges.

That said there are still tons of folks my age who are certain beyond any reason evolution is BS, Climate Change is BS, black helicopters silently spy on them, and anything that doesn't think like them, look like them and act like them are godless demons.

Anyway, I hope the youngsters (anyone younger than me) get the world going in a better direction.
