Ask any wildland firefighter in the Western states of America. Every one has at one time or another in their career seen a firefighter drop from dehydration from drinking Gatorade only, and no water.
I'll take that as if you asked me. From 1984 to 1987 I did some firefighting with the Eldorado HotShots based out of Placerville Ca.,the ArrowHead Shots based in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks and an Engine Crew stationed at Grizzley Flats outside of Placerville.
One of the biggest fires I was on was in the Cleveland National Forest in SoCal. One of our guys collapsed in base camp due to dehydration, and he had juices and sports drinks. I carried eight quarts of water and had no problem.
Maybe Rush should try to contract out with some of the fire camp caterers that the feds use. Heat stroke and dehydration are two of the biggest problems in wildland fire.
