Ever since Slam announced that they were taking pre-orders I have been trying to figure this out. They have a distributor in Mr. Checkout. But they aren't going to be selling me anything. That would be like Modelo selling me 6 packs of Corona. Distributors aren't set up for that. There is collection of taxes, shipping across state lines, dry counties etc etc. Distributors just don't sell to end users, they sell to retailers who deal with all those details. Most retailers will not ship alcohol in the mail or UPS. Yes I did buy tequila from a place in California and they shipped it to me in Illinois, but they only shipped to about 10 states- so I don't see any Slams arriving in the mail to anyone. I think the whole pre-order idea is to convince a retailer to stock the product. In fact one of the tweets from the company was worded in such a way as to suggest that if you COULD pre-order Slams, how many would you want? Having said this, IF there was a retailer willing to ship by post, that would be huge (Yuuuge), kind of like Amazon for alcohol- but if there was such a retailer, wouldn't they be doing that already? Am I missing something here?
