Altera Targets Next-Gen 500Gbps-1Tb Optical Transport Networks

Altera is demonstrating its SoftSilicon CPRI/CPRIm over OTN using Arria 10 FPGAs for wireless fronthaul networks. The silicon and IP are fully integrated and reprogrammable for use in mobile fronthaul solutions, enabling the capacity to address increasing mobile bandwidth needs while meeting the stringent frequency and latency requirements of these networks.
Altera will showcase how its silicon and IP advancements help address new OTN standards. Altera FPGAs reduce the size and power requirements for OTN designs, which gives system vendors the design flexibility crucial in meeting evolving standards including FlexE, FlexO, and B100G.

Altera will discuss with attendees its path to 56 Gbps pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM)4 transceivers for next-generation switches and routers in Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs. 56G PAM4 transceivers enable data center and cloud computing applications to operate at faster speeds and with greater cost efficiencies.
