The Threshold Pharmaceuticals chart doesn't look all that different, in that THLD shares have been just drifting sideways for months following a nasty December plunge. Were it just today that we saw a big gain (of 78%), it might be dismissible. A closer look at this chart, however, reveals that this rally has actually been underway for almost two weeks now. Something's up, and though yesterday afternoon's release of the company's Q4 results will get the credit for Friday's advance, it at least has to be acknowledged the party started well in advance of the news.



In any case, Threshold Pharmaceuticals was profitable last quarter, earning income of $69.7 million, or 62 cents per share. Both the top line and the bottom line trounced analyst estimates. More than that though, the numbers may be forcing the whole market to rethink its view of the opportunity THLD brings to the table.
