Interesting as Honeywell was the first to use EBM to make a component using Inconel 718 which is highly valued in aerospace applications. It would be nice to see PrintRite3D incorporated with Arcam since GE placed that recent order with them.

Experience with orthopedic implant or airplane parts production is desirable,
as is experience in the validation and quality assurance.

The student will work with improving the melting process, and at the same time make 3D
printing by EBM more transparent for validation. New mathematical models and simulation
algorithms for the EBM process will be developed. This will make it possible to control and
validate the EBM process from computed temperature distributions.
