The latest PR does seem to hint that crossbreeding is required, otherwise Kim would have stated something like:

Over the next several months the Company plans to finalize the formation of the subsidiary, lease a research and production facility in Vietnam, hire and train local staff, obtain permits, and begin production of its transgenics such as MS and DS as well as cross breeding its silkworms with local commercial silkworm lines.

Instead of:

"Over the next several months the Company plans to finalize the formation of the subsidiary, lease a research and production facility in Vietnam, hire and train local staff, obtain permits, and begin cross breeding its silkworms with local commercial silkworm lines."
