The merger is a really about GOOGLE Alphabet new service Project FI in beta testing. I suspect the 4000 users are those users. Google needed a MVNO provider with access to T-MOBILE, SPRINT, long distance, and some other factors. Only one company not currently owned by the big four qualifies. $TALK$

https://fi.google.com/about/->; Googles future is here folks!

PR States - this was the final piece of the puzzle needed
We are finalizing an agreement with a software company that specializes in wireless business solutions where we could potentially gain access and control of over 4,000 active accounts who are all considered customers.

Google taking a turn as an MVNO on the surface wouldn't seem all that special. But where things get more interesting is when you consider who owns America's existing MVNOs.
AT&T, Inc. (T) -- America's second largest carrier -- owns Cricket Wireless.
T-Mobile owns MetroPCS.
Sprint owns Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.
That leaves StraightTalk as the only major MVNO that isn't owned by one of America's top four carriers.
StraightTalk is coowned by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) and Tracfone, a subsidiary of Mexico's largest telecom company,

$TALK$ was and is the obvious choice.
