Seems like Lanza knew all along then IMO-

Lanza is not just staying on with what will be "OCATA", a U.S. division of Astellas now, but he's effectively been promoted to run Astellas' entire "global stem cell" anything and everything. He must of known that some sort of "big job" offer was in the making if the buy-out went through successfully.

For a pharma giant as big as Astellas, I'd say that's a HUUUUGE promotion for ole Lanza. He just made-out big time seems to me. He's now at a director level of a very large sized company- with responsibilities that put him just shy of what I'd call a VP position traditionally. He may make VP at Astellas before this is all said and done, IMO.

That article says he's been in meetings both in the U.S. and Japan already (he called um back-to-back meetings) with Astellas' Sr Mgt to plan how he's gonna run and manage Astellas entire "global stem cell" efforts going forward. He's going to get a greatly increased budget and the ability to hire a much, much larger staff according to the article- that means a bigger paycheck for the person in charge of the budget and staff, aka Lanza.

Seems like he did very well for himself- as stated, he may close-out his career one day as a VP of Astellas, a major sized pharma and world leader Blue Chip quality company. That'd be quite a crowning achievement for the doctor.

Not bad.
