2006-07-17 09:40 ET Dow +53.47 Nasdaq +13.05 S&P +2.86 [BRIEFING.COM] Stocks open with little fanfare as investors returning from a nervous weekend initially weigh concerns about oil prices at record levels amid growing concerns in the Middle East against the first big day of Q2 earnings. Citigroup (C 46.86 -0.72) had kicked things off with a paltry 4% year/year rise in Q2 profits that merely questioned the sustainability of double-digit earnings growth for a 12th straight quarter. Fortunately for the bulls looking to jump back into a market that is showing signs of oversold conditions, a pullback in crude prices and McDonald's (MCD 34.17 +1.13) reporting better than expected preliminary Q2 earnings on the heels of strong June systemwide sales are now providing a floor of support for equities.

hopefully GTE has also found a floor and can begin to gather some upward movement. Doing so without a "NR" will make the effects of news that much greater IMO, lets see!
