Sludge, may be a little evasive but this is my opinion on stops and stop limits. Though you may feel protected by using stops, you are also sending a message the "this is the price I am willing to sell my position at." You are not the only one who knows where your stop is at and if enough people put in place stops, you can be virtually guaranteed that someone will take the price down to take out as many of them as they can. And why wouldn't they? You advertised your position at a discounted rate. Someone obliged you. JMHO

Sorry I can't answer your question with regards to OTC stocks. I do not use stops.
