Understand that you'll probably get the market timing thing wrong. Most average investors do; most pros do. Buffett has said he can't time the market! A good way to re-enter in to make regular, planned purchases every month or two. Dollar cost average over a year or two.

In my case I make no attempt to outsmart Mister Market. I haven't sold anything, especially with alternative investments paying so little. I do own tons of corp and muni bonds which have soared lately. A sensible, balanced longterm portfolio. Yes, heavy on Index funds. And all my stocks pay very secure dividends.

I'll probably pick up some more stocks if the market continues falling. Not SDRL but something far more durable.
