The point is HOW WELL will it work?

The Army and Navy didn't think it worked well enough to give CDEX development money.

Meth fluoresces strongly so it is easier to detect than explosives.

Loch/CDEX have abandoned trying to build the panacea of chemical detectors. That concept sold a lot of shares, but no product. They are now developing niche products which are not designed to be "super everything detectors" (TM- d4diddy).

Paige said that at the SHM Griffin talked about eventually having an exchangeable head for the meth gun in order to detect explosives.

What does that tell you?

It tells me that they need a better optical package for explosives- more photon gathering power to compensate for weaker signals.

Why not just incorporate the optics now?

Size and cost, both which are important for the target market.
