He's on the board of directors and replaced an existing board member. Board members are typically paid a very diminimus amount on a per meeting basis to account for travel time etc - minor amount at best. They are not paid a salary.
A board member is not an executive of the company / operating the company. They are there for oversight and advice. Moreover, they are responsible to us, shareholders, and its great that in the PR it stated he has been a shareholder for YEARS, like you and me. As such, I am sure he has many of the same frustrations, this can only be advantageous to those of us who are long.
