I know folks read these, but, have folks really gave thought to what St. Peter was saying

"Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to you faith virtue---to virtue knowledge---to knowledge self control---to self control perseverance---to perseverance godliness---to godliness brotherly kindness---to brotherly kindness love. FOR IF THESE ARE YOURS AND ABOUND IN YOU--you will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ". The a few lines below this he adds---"for if you do these you will never stumble".

As you read this or have in the past read this, what struck out at you? For me, the 1st was "lust" and the fact that lust goes way beyond sex, I suppose it could be called uncontrolled desires, sports, automobiles, education, etc, etc, reckon any strong desires that causes me to put that thing before God, for such I would be lusting....2nd brotherly kindness & love, our world would be such a better place if this was practiced, this should start at my door and at the door of every professing Christian...3rdFor if these abound in me, I will never be unfruitful, I will be a better person & witness,--4th I will never stumble, meaning if I learn to live by this, I will be a better person than I was yesterday and even better person tomorrow.

I suppose my thought is that it is not only important to read Scripture but try to connect to and understand what the author is trying to convey. Anyway so much for my thoughts, maybe jus think'n out loud....God Bless
