Surgical Tech's know a ton about surgery. Surgeons, the VAST majority, really have no idea how instruments are sterilized, what is required, what sets are needed for a case, on and on. Ours are first assists and do wound closures. My philosophy is just read my mind and put the instrument in my hand that I need, not what I ask for. An absolute integral part of a surgery case. Having a bad surgery tech in a hard case is almost like operating with one hand tied behind your back. A good surg tech is better than a surgery resident. It's a team. Don't listen to the dingbats on this board. They all have ulterior motives.
