Perhaps but maybe EBM can build a better mousetrap aka part. Siemens won't know till they experiment and try. I think every experimental design facility should have at least one ebm printer for RD and experimentation.

Remember in that article cited below, they mentioned that they made a part with both EBM and laser and both were as good or better than the traditional mfg part.

WONDER WHICH, EBM OR LASER, DID BETTER IN THE TESTING. They never seem to mention that. But per Rene, throughout the 3d sector some parts best made with ebm, some with laser and some a wash. we need more RD and experimentation to increase the EBM pot.
