Why else would anybody give up millions of dollars for shares in a 10 cent penny stock?

Because making money by designing and selling products is hard work, shares gives you the leverage to profit off other people's hard work.

But when a company is filled with people with shares looking to profit and lack of people doing the real work, like US economy at one point, the stock value dives.
