I don't know if the parka will retail at all. No one does. This is merely an exercise in what makes more sense. We know that silk made from silkworms is already feasible. Talk of Spibers parka might have more to do with the texture of their silk rather than anything else. It may never find its way into anything finer.

I have been thinking about this looking at this close up does it look to you like this is a twisted thread made of many fibers or is it just a single strand?

it is a very coarse weave. I believe the same was said about the dress by someone who saw it.
That tells me a few things

They must be limited to size based on strength.
Correct me if you think I am wrong...
If you took a 1mm extrusion of goo that was 1 meter long and stretched it till it was 10M long it would be .1mm in diameter give or take a bit.
If you tried to stretch it to 100M and it breaks that means you can not make any finer of a fiber.
they require more strength to make it smaller or a much slower process of drawing and relaxing so it stays consistent

If it is a single strand then they would require much more material. Since I would say any thread is at least 25% air. Take away the space between the fibers and you need 25% more material to make the same item.

It would also be susceptible to coming unwoven.

All JMO

I think spiber may be able to make a cool fiber someday but it wont be this year. They are a bit past RL

$30k for a parka? nah if they made only 1 maybe. I would guess they would be at least $2k if they want to sell some this year.
If they wait until they are ready for production I could see a price of $1200 maybe.
But that is just my wild guess.
The same coat made of silk would probably run $250... $440-600 made of MS
