Its funny to me that people misinterpreted the tweet regarding the announcement. They read it as if an announcement this week is absolute, whereas the announcement essentially says, an announcement will come this week IF Coopervision authorizes it to be announced this week.
Its great that a deal is done. Parameters and all of that have been agreed to. But until that final signature hits the paper, its technically not completed and no announcement or filing, 8K, whatever, has to be done. Its that final step, that loop hole, that companies, especially blue-chips,take advantage of in order to time releases of news to have the best effect on their share price.
With the way the general market is getting beat down right now, is it strategically better for COO to wait until things calm down and then announce the news as their PPS starts to go back up, before short sellers have covered and ride that wave, or should they release it now as everybody is selling and flipping. Regardless, every decision a blue chip makes is highly strategic and done in the best interest of their PPS. A day. A week. A month. We are on a Blue-Chip time schedule. That's a good problem to have.
I think those that are currently aware of the stock and know what they are doing, have shares. For those still sitting on the fence, they had their chance to get in at the bottom of our long standing range. They could of been up +25% right now, had they snatched up the .04-.042's that sat for for a month. For those that did, kudos to them! Of course, fence sitters may still might have a chance. Investors that don't understand all of the above, and think an announcement has to come this week, will probably get scarred and sell if it doesn't occur.....opening up another low buy in opportunity. Or it will be announced this week and they will continue to watch from the sidelines. I don't care. I'm already loaded up and won't be selling anytime soon.
When the time comes, that Coopervision decides to legally finalize the agreement, whether its today, the end of this week, a month, people will be dumbfounded that this ever sat below .10.
