My view is that PM Trudeau will not grant LP's monopoly for one simple reason. He wants to rid the black market.
He will keep tax low, and he's publicly stated that he is in favor of dispensaries.
Some of these compassion clubs have been at it for over 20 years and have accumulated serious knowledge.
Remo Colesanti, Marcus Richardson, Terpine Tony to name a few. Heck most dispensaries have 20k plus customers.
Tweed is pale in comparaison for a 25 million dollar venture.
The rec market is allready estimated at 6 billion for BC Bud alone (Wikipedia). My estimated is 10 to 20% of 36 millions.
The problem i see with LP'S is that they adopted the wrong Harper's attitude of divide and conquer.
''We sell the good stuff and dispensaries sell mold caper''.
But some frustrated patients flocked the net with pictures of hermies. The word got around fast on canna forum.
They will have to shake that bad reputation. Will you buy another Volkswagon?
They also lobbied hard to close down dispensaries. Another bad move that further eroded their market share and pissed the main customers base.
To sum up, my guess is PM Trudeau will legalise across the country (10 Provinces willing) in a year and a half.
He will keep tax low to help avoid rampant black market.
He knows that unless prices are low, black market will still florish.
Time will tell.
