New Screening Technology Could Speed Airport Check-In
by Cheryl Rosen / December 15, 2015

A new checkpoint security system being tested at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, may one day speed up airport check-in and remove TSA agents from the process.
The system promises to move people through security in a fully automated, self-service process, in which passengers would put their belongings into one end of the Qylatron and close the door, then walk to the other side and remove them. The machine’s honeycomb-like chambers use artificial intelligence to communicate, and “learn” which items pose security risks and which do not.
The system, which was deployed last year at the 2014 FIFA World Cup games in Brazil, in October began testing at Levi’s Stadium, which will host Super Bowl 50.
Qylur Intelligent Systems, which makes the Qylatron, in October also announced that it has entered into a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement with the Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL). “We are honored to embark on this milestone, collaborating with the Department of Homeland Security. Since the DHS and Qylur essentially share the same vision for secure entry points, we expect very positive outcomes resulting from this CRADA agreement,” Dr. Lisa Dolev, Qylur founder and CEO, said in a statement at the time.
