The market delights in hiding the completely absurd, i.e. enormous hidden potentials, and later hearing all the smart people who missed it explaining that it was all obvious from the beginning.
My favorite, and an absurdity that I gained from: Apple, being rebuilt on an object-oriented operating system (became OS X). This was the equivalent of building a company on a foundation of nanomicelles.
