My daughter wanted to invite her best friend over, for one afternoon. I couldn't find her parents phone number in the phone book, but I know her mother and she works at a shopping centre nearby as a cashier.

So I told my daughter that we'd just go to the shopping center and find her friend's mother

Sure enough we did.

Then the mother starts rattling on, recent divorce, she's been trying to find my phone number, maybe we can have lunch.... Sheesh, I bet she woulda thrown herself naked at me.... And I didn't even have to offer her a can of tuna

All I want to know is if her daughter can come over tomorrow afternoon to play with my kids
