Since I moved out of NY before their debut, I have not had direct experience with them of late. But, as the old Bell Atlantic/Nynex, they were the best in the country.
BellSouth is literally run on a string. Their equipment is so old, that when it finally goes, it takes them years to upgrade all the connections.
If we're ever sitting around somewhere (home, bar, tiki hut,...), remind me to tell you my BellSouth stories. You will not believe them, but they're all true. I am on record with them as having the worst phone problem in BellSouth's history (& that's saying something).
