Yeah, this market is crowded. I think MIPS-based cpu's can go down below $10 and have a low pincount. PowerPC is used where more power is needed.

But I think Hammer with HT may be a base for strange hybrid devices, which are almost PC's, they can run Windows or other mainstream OS (you can run Linux on any cpu, including MIPS, but that will not be a full RedHat-like distribution but rather something small), but they have some very specialized controllers connected right to the HT bus. Well, the new PCI-X may be used the same way.. Can you imagine anything like that?

I understand that I'm probably digging in the wrong direction, but I was just curious if that makes cense.
